The Wills Sainte Claire Auto Museum was the place to be last night. Terry Ernest, Director of the Museum, gave a very interesting and informative presentation about Gar Wood (The Silver Fox), the boat factory in Marysville, his life, his boat building, boat racing and his many other inventions and achievements. Some things you knew already, but most you did not know. Many, many pictures and memorable facts.
Mr. Ernest also told the crowd that even though the factory in Marysville no longer exists, the museum is working on a plaque made of aluminum and in color to be put at the location resembling the famous billboard and will be in place for the 2018 “Boat the Blue” in Port Huron.
It was good to see a lot of our Michigan Chapter members at the lecture, plus many others. There was a very good turnout. Well worth taking the night off and spending it with the “Silver Fox.”
Thank you to Mr. Ernest!
